This study conducted with 7th and 9th graders in 1986-1988 examined outcomes among students who received the program compared to those who did not. At the beginning of 7th grade, some of the students reported drinking alcohol. Results with these students indicate that compared to controls, 7th grader drinkers who received the program were nearly five times more likely to report being abstainers at the end of the 7th grade. There were also indications of reductions in high-risk attitudes, high-risk drinking, and alcohol-related problems among program participants compared to controls.
