Moving ForWarD Rating Scale
Moving ForWarD (MFWD) Rating Scale is a tool for rating instructors on their delivery of Prime For Life. The tool is usable for assessing the fidelity with which Prime For Life is being delivered, as a learning tool for new instructors, and is a staple for providing feedback and coaching to instructors.
The scale includes:
- Content Ratings: Instructor expertise on program curriculum and concepts
- Process Ratings: Global ratings of the way in which instructors deliver the program. This includes Finish Line Focus (ability to provide direction and structure), Working With (skill at forming respectful collaboration with participants), and Defusing Dissent (skill at managing active resistance within the group).

PRI collaborated with Theresa Moyers, PhD to develop and test The Moving ForWarD Rating Scale. Research has shown the tools can be reliably applied when rating instructors. For example, multiple raters, adhering to the Coding Manual, can produce ratings similar to each other.

A modified form of the Moving ForWarD Rating Scale is available for use with Prime Solutions groups (Moving ForWarD – Prime Solutions, MFWD-PS). This adaptation still requires reliability testing. This adaptation can be downloaded for use:
