Prevention Research Institute has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). In obtaining this accreditation, the Prevention Research Institute has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standard which is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice. As a result of their Authorized Provider status, Prevention Research Insitute is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.

That means you can earn Continuing Education Units as you increase your skills.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions you may have about PRI being an IACET Approved Provider.

Q: What does it mean to be an "authorized provider" of IACET CEUs?

A: Prevention Research Institute underwent a lengthy application process that included submitting an extensive application with information about our organizational and training event materials, as well as being evaluated by an IACET site visitor to ensure our training successfully demonstrates the ability to adhere to all IACET criteria and guidelines. As a result, PRI received authorized provider status in March 2009.

Q: What is the benefit of PRI being designated as an "authorized provider"?

A: IACET Authorized Providers are the only organizations approved to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs). IACET standards enable continuing educators like PRI to deliver programs of the highest quality. Only Authorized Providers offer the IACET Continuing Education Unit (CEU). These CEUs reflect strong procedural standards and quality educational criterion.

Q: What criteria are measured for PRI to be authorized as an IACET provider?

A: The criteria include all aspects of PRI’s program development. As an IACET Authorized Provider, PRI offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under ANSI/IACET Standard. PRI has demonstrated that our PRIME For Life and PRIME Solutions programs meet all ten of the following criteria:

    Criteria 1: Organization

    Criteria 2: Responsibility and Control

Criteria 3: System for Awarding CEU

Criteria 4: Learning Environment and Support Systems

    Criteria 5: Needs Identification

    Criteria 6: Learning Outcomes

Criteria 7: Planning and Instructional Personnel

Criteria 8: Content and Instructional Methods

Criteria 9: Assessment of Learning Outcomes

    Criteria 10: Post-Event Evaluation

Q: What constitutes one CEU?

A: One CEU equals __ contact hours of participation in a PRIME For Life continuing or PRIME Solutions education classes. A contact hour is equivalent to attending a 60-minute CE event conducted by a PRI trainer or consultant and the attendee.

Q: What is the minimum period of contact for which a CEU can be awarded?

A: A CEU cannot be granted for learning events that are less than one hour in length.

Q: Which PRI programs qualify for IACET CEUs?

A: The entire PRI organization was approved as an authorized provider, so participants can receive credit for most of our PRIME For Life and PRIME Solutions professional development events. Please note that CEUs are not available for a few presentations and events that do not include measurable learning objectives. These will be noted in the CE agenda.

Q: What are the attendance requirements in order for me to receive CEU credit(s)?

A: You must sign in the morning of the event at the training site, and attend the entire CE event for which you registered. For in trainer-led classroom CE events, certificates are prepared in advance. But you will not receive the certificate until you have submitted a completed conference evaluation form and a CEU certification form to a PRI trainer at the conclusion of the event. <<Or, will we email a digital copy of the certificate to them after the event??>>

For online events such as webinars and webcasts, PRI staff will review participant attendance via the WebEx call list. Certificates are awarded after the confirmation of complete attendance. CEUs are not eligible for archived recorded online webcasts and webinar events.

Q: How will my attendance be certified for large, multi-session conferences?

A: A PRI trainer will be available at the end of the IACECET CEU-eligible sessions to certify your attendance. At the conclusion of the entire CE event, you will submit your CEU certification form that is provided by PRI in your registration materials to the trainer before leaving the venue. One of our staff will tabulate CEU credits and mail a certificate to you shortly after the event.

Q: Can I register for an event on-site?

A: Because seating is limited in many meeting venues, we encourage you to preregister early to ensure a seat is reserved for you. However, space permitting, you may register in the morning of the event before the first session starts. Attendees who register on-site will have certificates mailed to them shortly after the conclusion of the event.

Q: How will I know how many CEUs I have earned?

A: Each certificate will include the number of CEUs earned and the number of contact hours. You may check your training and certification history and update your contact information by entering your instructor or counselor username and password at instructor.primeforlife.org. You may also email Jo Marie or call 800.922.9489.

Q: Does the trainer have any discretion in determining whether CEUs are awarded?

A: Final discretion on awarding CEUs will reside with Prevention Research Institute.

A trainer may withhold the certificate if he/she determines that a participant has not gained satisfactory knowledge from a particular professional development event, or if the participant did not attend the sessions.

If you have additional questions regarding IACET CEU credits, please email Jo Marie or call 800.922.9489.
