Ray Daugherty, President of PRI, will present "Rediscovering Alcoholism, Addiction, & Dependence: Redefining ourselves in a DSM-5 World" in the Friday Morning Plenary.

The ground is shifting as DSM-5 prepares to drop both abuse and dependence and NIAAA is focusing more on those who are experiencing problems but are not yet dependent. Research is challenging long held truths at a time we are being asked to be more research based. We are entering an era when new findings can either revolutionize clinical practice or create confusion. New thinking blended with old truths can help us redefine ourselves in the DSM-5 era.
